quality post, kudos "Whenever a club fields the most talented of dinosaurs they do nothing more than field a museum of tricks that were impressive the last time we saw them 10 years ago, and lost their novelty around the same time the song "Who Let the Dogs Out" did." This quote had me laughing and its so true, This is something I have been saying about Roma. Why lose with washed up players and just waste time, when you can give yourself a better chance with quality youth, who will develop and learn valuable lessons even in losing. Players like Grygera Casetti Taddei etc. are not Totti Del Piero or even Cannavarro and they have no right to hold off development of youngsters.

Del Piero and Totti (and to an extent but not such a great one Cannavaro) have developed a very unique style of play. The reason you can always field them is because they can add an aspect to the game which is unique. Truth is if we were to go to great lengths and mask all the players, by the motions, technique and style of play alone you could recognize Del Piero and Totti from miles out. Grygera, Tiago, Casseti, Taddei? It's difficult to recognize what they're doing when the camera is zoomed up aginst them. Roma for example have the advantage of being the capital team, and are influened by alot of foreign forms of football mixed with Italian heritage of the sport. They will on virtue of that alone always produce excellent youth players. Juventus have the advantage of being recognized as the club with -the- in form youth academy, sort of like West Ham in England but the players who sign up for Juve will actually want to stay there over time.

I see one thing that Juve and Roma hve the strongest youth players ... I think that way cz i've never seen such players in Inter (except Baloteli and Santon) and in Milan ...maybe i don't know but compare Gio , Palladino , Rossi , Ariaudo,Criscito,Immobile,Del Prete , Marone , Daud ... btw i've seen marone in Football Manager 10 also i had to try him and i got to say i got impressed my scouts said that he is future Sere A leading star .... )) and Football Manager 10 almost never makes mistakes and the same wasa said for Rossi that he can be the best Winger in A ) Message Edited by deviangel on 11-03-2009 08:23 AM

What really surprises me is that we don't have a new batch of quality defenders coming through the works. It seems to me (and I could be wrong) like nearly all of our best up and coming players are midfielders. The only pure striker in the list is Ciro Immobile. Ariaudo is the only quality centre back I can think of and we're jam packed in other positions. Is there any 18-20 year old player you guys envy and would be willing to trade one of our youth talents for?
