This thread looks so dull. Spice it up a bit. ManU had a gr8 start to the season, but still i am worried abt the strength of the squad. One or two injuries and we might be struggling. Looking at the way we played against Arsenal, i think we need to get in some quality players, not that the gaffer is not thinking of it

Reds face League One side

United have been drawn away to Crewe Alexandra in the Carling Cup third round.

It'll be the sixth meeting between the two sides, the most recent of which took place just under two years ago when the pair were drawn together at exactly the same stage of the competition.

Goals from Alan Smith and Liam Miller, plus an own goal from Stephen Foster gave the Reds a 3-0 victory at The Alexandra Stadium.

This year's tie will be played the week commencing 23 October.

United are unbeaten against Crewe in the five meetings between the two sides, although four of those games took place in the late 1800's!

Meanwhile, Chelsea face a tricky trip to Blackburn, while Arsenal will travel to West Brom. Liverpool play host Reading and Newcastle will entertain fellow Premiership team Portsmouth at St. James' Park.

well... i honestly havent heard anything yet on the matter, but i dont think theres much truth to it. plus i think bayern are being inconsiderate of hargreaves ambitions and are being unfair to him. they are lucky that he is such a true professional.

I have to say losing to a bottom level team in the Championship stung a bit but I really think this a blessing in disguise.  Yes, the Carling Cup is a trophy we will miss out on but that means we now play less games than Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal.  We can focus now on the big three which clearly are more important.
