Italy striker Luca Toni is poised to complete his move from Fiorentina to Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany.

A deal worth 13 million euros (£8.8million) is said to have been agreed between the two clubs and representatives of the Bavarian outfit are due in Florence in midweek to complete the necessary paperwork.

Toni, who has already passed a medical in the German capital, has reportedly signed a four-year contract with Bayern.

The 30-year-old turned down several offers from Serie A rivals out of respect for his former employers, who he would prefer not to meet in an opposition shirt.

"It is a beautiful gesture to the club and the city of Florence that Toni has decided to join Bayern Munich," said Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle, who confirmed the transfer on Tuesday.

However, Toni`s fears may still be realised next season as both Bayern and Fiorentina battle it out for UEFA Cup glory.

The highly-rated hitman enjoyed two fruitful years with the Viola, scoring 49 goals in the process.

And although his final season ended prematurely with surgery on a foot injury, he should recover in time to join his new Bayern team-mates in pre-season training at the end of June.

Bayern Munich signs Germany defender Jansen

MUNICH, Germany (AP) - Bayern Munich signed Germany defender Marcell Jansen on a four-year contract Thursday.

Jansen, 21, played for Borussia Moenchengladbach, which was relegated at the end of the season.

He is the fourth new signing for Bayern, which is rebuilding the team after finishing fourth.

Team officials have said that half a dozen new players will be arriving.

So far Bayern has also completed the transfers of Jan Schlaudraff, Hamit Altintop and Jose Ernesto Sosa.

    At last..

It is high time he should've bid adieu to the game. It would've paved way for a youngster to get a cap in bayern. He is too selfish to lose his spot to anyone. Damn him!

Ribery ready to join revolution at Bayern

FRANCK RIBERY will be unveiled as a Bayern Munich player tomorrow after Marseille agreed a $34 million fee to sell the France international. Munich have been on a major spending spree to strengthen their squad since their 2005/6 campaign ended in failure. The German giants have already signed Fiorentina striker Luca Toni and Borussia Monchengladbach defender Marcell Jansen.

But by beating off several top clubs to sign of Ribery, they have pulled off a major transfer coup which will finally cheer up their fans, who are still in shock at the Bavarians’ fourth-place finish in the Bundesliga. “We are not far from a total agreement with Ribery and Marseille,” announced Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “It is just a case of agreeing the small details.”
Ribery and Toni are both due in Munich for a medical on Thursday, after which they will both formally sign long-term contracts. Ribery had also been linked with Real Madrid and Arsenal, and was understood to be cold on a move to Germany. However, in the absence of firm offers from Spain or England, it appears Bayern have punched above their weight to land the winger.
Ribery became one of Europe’s hottest properties last summer after a series of eye-catching displays during France’s march into the World Cup final. Zinedine Zidane, who has a close relationship Ribery, had been selling the virtues of the Bernabeu to his former France team-mate before Bayern secured their man.
With Owen Hargreaves’ move to Manchester United swelling the bank balance at the Allianz Arena, it appears Bayern’s summer spending spree is not over yet. Bayern are also looking to tempt former winger Ze Roberto back to the club. The Brazilian is expected to return to Germany after a spell in his homeland with Santos - while the speculation linking Germany frontman Miroslav Klose with Ottmar Hitzfeld’s side continues.
Klose’s contract with Werder Bremen expires next summer, and yesterday the forward moved a step closer to the exit door by fighting with team-mate Torsten Frings. Frings claimed Klose wants to leave Bremen, which drew his team-mate’s wrath on the eve of Germany’s Euro 2008 clash with Slovakia. “Those who really know Torsten will know he changes his opinions like the wind. “When the wind blows in a different direction, he will contradict what he said before,” Klose said.
Frings, who had himself been negotiating with Italian giants Juventus before extending his Bremen contract, commented last weekend that he thought it would would be better for Klose to leave Bremen. “I did not say anything when he was linked with a move to Juventus and I wish he would do pay me the same compliment,” added Klose.

    Hamburg sign Congo's Kosi Saka

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the club Hamburg, who added Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan to their squad last week.

"I am happy to have the chance to continue my career with such a prestigious side," said Saka.

"He has huge potential," said Hamburg team manager Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

Saka played six Bundesliga matches for Dortmund last season and replaces Iranian Mehdi Mahdavikia who has finished his contract.

They are undergoing a major transformation with the revamping of the squad. I hope they can get the team chemistry right so that they can do well next season and quality for the CL. They are a too big a club to miss in europe.

    Friedrich joins Leverkusen
    maltasport.com 30 May 2007
German international defender Manuel Friedrich has signed a three-year deal to switch from relegated Mainz 05 to Bayern Leverkusen.

The 27-year-old, who has won seven caps for his country, has been named in German coach Joachim Loew's squad for Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifiers against San Marino and next Wednesday's game with Slovakia.

Despite Mainz joining Alemannia Aachen and Borussia Moenchengladbach in the drop to the Bundesliga's second division, Friedrich admitted transferring from the club where he began his career, was not an easy decision to make.

"It is very difficult for me to quit Mainz, the club to whom I owe so much, that's why I needed a lot of time to make my decision, but Leverkusen give me an opportunity which I just can't ignore," said Friedrich, as the German squad met on Tuesday to prepare to face minnows San Marino.

Friedrich only made his international debut last season, but missed out on playing in the 2006 World Cup and has had spells with Werder Bremen.

Leverkusen, who finished fifth in last season's Bundesliga, qualified for a place in the UEFA Cup and are currently recruiting hard for the new season.

As well as Friedrich, Bayer have signed the league's top-scorer Greek international Theofanis Gekas, defender Lukas Sinkiewicz and the Chilean Arturo Vidal.

I ain't sure about it either. With the major transformation taking place, it is often tough for a club to settle down and Bayern is no exception there.

I really think Bayern will be okay.  They will have one of the best attacking forces out of anybody, except United of course.

I'd waited long enough. I fucking hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that, you ***. And don't ever stand over me again sneering about fake injuries.”
