    Milan are in trouble

they need a striker that will play consecutive games and is not 30 yrs old.

A goalie any goalie besides Dida and paul robinson.

    Some young defenders

In short, they need to rebuild their team.

I never actually understood why Milan signed Ronaldo, Ronaldo was already finished in Real Madrid, it was a poor move by Milan. After such a mistake I expect Milan to sign a useful striker in the summer.

    Re: A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL THREAD

Well I question this pessimism, because Ac Milan are clearly climbing even with their "troubles".  Fiorentina have shown clear credentials of being inconsistent and so even if Milan draw or lose to them, it won't decide much at all.  I agree though that there is a hint of Roma catching Inter Milan in the air and I too would like it to happen.

Next thing is that if Milan do indeed beat Fiorentina, they will catch them alot sooner than i anticipated and hence, really and truly put pressure on the guys in front of them especially when Juventus also will drop points.  It will be entirely up to Milan to take advantage between now and the end of the season.  Nonetheless, in 3 weeks i think, Roma plays Juventus in a game I'm wagering a win for Juventus ~ where was Iaquinta hiding?

Furthermore, YES, Milan needs a few players, but not as many as 6 or 7 given that they can get 3 or 4 this season and a couple more next season to more or less give them a new squad in 3 seasons.

I think 3 good signings would turn things around for Milan, maybe a forward like Sergio Aguero and 2 world class defensive players. And I guess they'll need a replacement for Seedorf in about 2 or 3 seasons, Pirlo still haves a lot to give and so does Gattuso..

And Pato is a star in the making, very impresive, he haves more character than Kaka and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Also unlike Kaka, Pato haves the pace but also haves the ability to dribble his way through small spaces (something Kaka has never been very good at), Milan are lucky to have him.

    Re: A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL THREAD

OK, enough speculation...all the pretend contenders showed their mettle and Ac Milan are now in with the very real and predictable position of being in the top 4 champions league places.  I think we all knew it was going to happen and that's why i can't agree that such wholesale changes are necessary.

This result will mean alot more when Atalanta plays Fiorentina and Roma plays Juventus, where you'll find Milan alot closer than many of us thought.  This is the crunch time for many teams looking to get into Europe and avoid relegation and teams like Siena will not be cooling out while teams play CL football.

Let it be known that i predict that at the end of February, Milan will be threatening 3rd place, needless to say already in 4th since although easily overlooked udinese is still going to cause problems.

Good game for Pato ~ doesn't look like Galliani, Ancelotti etc were wrong in their estimation...notably i trust Milan's scouts and administration more than any other group in the transfer market.  Pato already has half of Gilardino's goal tally in Serie A at 3 goals.

The Pato and Kaka team-work I was waiting to see got his start today, unfortunately Pato injured himself and it looked serious. I'm very certain that it is a mild ligament rupture (nothing severe), I'm guessing Pato will be out for at least 2 or 3 months.. but maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked.

Milan will certainly miss Pato in the next few matches, let's see how it turns out.

    Re: A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL THREAD

Not such a bad idea to get Ronaldo, maybe a bad idea to be ready to fully depend on him with his injury problems.  A good dependable striker like Toni is a better option, then you can sort of flirt with strikers like Ronaldo who may or may not be able to do what we know they showed they can do in the past.  So, you'd have gilardino, ronaldo, inzaghi and pato on the bench with all of them managing to get in like 25 games instead of playing the whole season, champions league and copa italia inclusive.

For instance, Pato is injured, Ronaldo is injured, Gilardino is suspended, Inzaghi is injured and Toni is starting at Bayern Munich whereas, you could've had these strikers fit and ready if Toni was the main striker.  Give Ronaldo like 30 mins in league and Champions league, Gilardino 30 mins with starts in Copa Italia games, Inzaghi can start in the Copa italia, occasional league and start regularly alongside Toni, while Pato can play 20 league games and a few substitute appearances in Champions League.  This would protect Pato being a first timer in Italy, Ronaldo as injury prone, Gilardino as inefficient ~ hence make him gain confidence and look good with 10 - 15 goals as a non-regular, Inzaghi the usual destroyer in Europe and what we can expect 25 - 30 goals in Serie A by Luca Toni.

I used Luca Toni as an example of a striker who can be used who is world class and still fit enough to play a whole season, but similar calibre strikers like Drogba, Amauri etc would probably fit the bill of the point i'm trying to make of not depending on strikers like Ronaldo who have a well-known history of injuries.

Maybe the emergence of Borriello or another prolific striker can fit Milan's needs.  The other thing is that not many strikers in Italy have given 30 goals a season without defenders forcing them on the injury tables for lengthy spells, so I wouldn't be too picky about selecting prospects that are not 30 years.  You'll get 3 years out of them, then you can look again.  Players are always emerging.

    Re: A.C. MILAN OFFICIAL THREAD

Nice comparison Gregory.....but the problem is that players like Gila, Pato, Ronaldo or Inzaghi they like to play regularly so if they dont play they will ask to go to another club, maybe yes Ronaldo and Inzaghi can accept that but gila and pato deffinitly not.

I would say sell Gila buy the likes of Tony or Drogba and everything will be fine in the atack. But now we can talk what we want we have this situation with all our strikers injured except Gila who is not so consistant.

I think that even if Pato becomes fit for Arsenal game its better to start with Inzaghi or Ronaldo if they will be fit in time...they have the expirience to make the difference in the big games, but Pato can come in second half and with his speed to make arsenal's deffence suffer.
