    Juve have Bianchi option
    Monday 2 April, 2007

Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus have an option to buy Reggina striker Rolando Bianchi at the end of the season.

The Bianconeri are looking for a new striker to replace David Trezeguet, who seems set to leave Turin in June.

They have reportedly targeted Luca Toni (pictured) as their first choice, but the Viola hitman wants to play in the Champions League, meaning Inter and Bayern Munich are thought to be his preferred destinations.

If the plan to bring Toni to the Stadio Olimpico were to fail the Old Lady could finalise a deal with Bianchi, who has scored 15 Serie A goals this season.

The Amaranto bomber is one of the most promising young players on the market and Juve have allegedly already offered £5.7m to the southern club to start negotiations.

President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has confirmed the club’s interest in Toni, while he also stated that the Bianconeri will do all they can to keep Gianluigi Buffon in Turin.

“We are obviously interested in Toni, but we will respect Fiorentina,” explained the Juve chief, who has already secured the signatures of Zdenek Grygera and Hasan Salihamidzic.

“I cannot interpret his thoughts as to the Champions League, but I believe that playing for Juventus is definitely an important professional objective.”

“As to Buffon, we feel he is a Juventino and we will discuss his contract. We are willing to do all that is needed to keep him here,” concluded Cobolli Gigli.

Juventus coach Deschamps admits Frings admiration:

Juventus coach Didier Deschamps has admitted his interest in Werder Bremen midfielder Thorsten Frings.

The Germany international is expected to move to Juve at the end of the season and Deschamps said: "I cannot say that he does not appeal to me. I'm sure he is among the many players that could come to Juve next season."

The Frenchman added: "I've watched some Champions League games this week and seen several players who could do well for Juve.

"(Hasan) Salihamidzic has played well, is an intelligent player and showed he can also play as a winger."

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon has admitted he may quit the club at the end of this season:

"I haven't actually made a decision on my future yet," the goalkeeper told Sky Italia television. "Even if I did decide to stay, it is Juve, hardly Canicatti' in the amateur League. With all due respect, we are still talking about the most important club in Italy."

Buffon was one of the first to pledge his help to the Bianconeri following their demotion last summer, but also pointed out that he had been ready to move on and seek new motivation before the Calciopoli scandal.

"Lately I am watching the Champions League with a little more interest. I have to admit I do miss it a little bit and feel the desire to compete at that level again.

"That could influence my decision for the future, but it is not everything. If I were to choose a club just for the city life, then I won't move from Turin. This is a place that allows you to live like a normal person and there aren't many of those now."

    DD: Buffon to stay
    Monday 9 April, 2007

Juventus Coach Didier Deschamps believes that Gianluigi Buffon won’t leave the club at the end of the season.

The goalkeeper has warned that he might be tempted by a summer move as he is desperate to return to the Champions League – something which won’t be possible in Turin until 2008.

“Now I only want him to remain focused on reaching Serie A as soon as possible,” said Deschamps in the Press conference preceding Tuesday’s showdown with Napoli.

“He has a long contract and I cannot believe that Juve will let him go, seeing the outfit’s ambitions.

“There are no other goalkeepers like him around, selling him would be like shooting your foot and then trying to run.”

David Trezeguet was also linked with a transfer, but recently stated that he was willing to stay even if Juve aren’t in next year’s Champions League.

“I am not surprised that the players now want to stay, many things have changed since July,” revealed the ex-Monaco boss.

“Trezeguet is part of the club’s plans and I am sure he will be offered a contract extension, which he will consider carefully.”

Deschamps can count on Alex Del Piero for tomorrow’s match in a sold out Stadio Olimpico, as the captain has recovered from a minor injury and has been training with the rest of the squad.

“He is eager to do well and is an example for all our younger players. We will try to win, but a draw would be fine as well, because it would leave us six points ahead of Napoli,” concluded Deschamps.

    Juventus 3-1 Genoa
Juventus extended their lead to seven points after this comfortable triumph over second-placed Genoa. It was a real showdown between the top two teams in Serie B and Napoli were watching attentively to sneak into one of the automatic promotion spots. Juve hit the back of the net after three minutes, but the Del Piero goal was correctly disallowed for a offside position. Moments later Genoa also had a strike ruled out, but in this case Gasparetto appeared to be level. Both sides had penalty appeals for a Chiellini push on Gasparetto and Masiello’s handling offence.
The visitors had a very aggressive start, but it was Nedved who opened the scoring, although much of the credit goes to Del Piero. The captain performed some tricky footwork at the byline to shrug off defenders and cut back for Nedved to side-foot in from seven yards. Birindelli ballooned a good chance over, but Trezeguet incredibly managed two misses of the season in the space of five seconds. He sprung the offside trap in midfield and was clear on goal, but his lob was too weak and Rubinho batted it away. Del Piero picked up the loose ball and was shooting in front of a totally open goal when Trezeguet snatched it off his foot and fired wide! Del Piero did not disguise his irritation at this moment of selfishness from the Frenchman.
The Bianconeri went 2-0 up soon after, as Chiellini came from the back for a powerful free header, ignored by the Genoa defence. Genoa were in shock, but picked their heads up before the break to pull one back. Buffon managed to parry Rossi’s point-blank cutback, but could do nothing on former Juventus star Di Vaio’s finish under the bar.
Zebina risked a dismissal as he reacted furiously to a yellow card, slamming the ball into the ground and shouting at the referee. The French defender made up for the error by creating a fine goal for fellow countryman Trezeguet. Zebina ran between three players and rolled a pass through for Trez to slide in the finish. Birindelli and Camoranesi went off with injuries, then Buffon fingertipped a Di Vaio drive over the bar.
    Scorers: Nedved 19 (J), Chiellini 38 (J), Di Vaio 45 (G), Trezeguet 66 (J)
Juventus: Buffon; Birindelli (Boumsong 59), Zebina, Legrottaglie, Chiellini; Camoranesi (Marchionni 67), Marchisio, Giannichedda, Nedved; Trezeguet, Del Piero (Zalayeta 91)
Genoa: Rubinho; Masiello, Stellini, Criscito; Juric, Milanetto (Galeoto 76), Botta (Coppola 41), Fabiano; Rossi (Leon 49), Gasparetto, Di Vaio

    Deschamps: We're not there yet
    Saturday 21 April, 2007

Didier Deschamps denies Juventus have already sealed their Serie A return with today’s victory over Genoa.

“It is an important win, but it is not the decisive step yet,” he said of the 3-1 result at Turin’s Stadio Olimpico.

“Now we are seven points clear of second place and eight points above Genoa in third, though there are still some points missing before we can be sure.”

The Bianconeri are all but certain of at least one of the two automatic qualifying spots, having recently beaten both Genoa and Napoli.

“Genoa came here to play, keep the ball and cause us problems, but Juventus were ready on every level, especially physically,” continued the Coach.

“The lads replied well to this challenge with the right mentality. It’s not easy to maintain such a level of consistency when you play every four days.”

Pavel Nedved and Giorgio Chiellini were on target before David Trezeguet ended his goal drought.

“David had his chances and I ask him for a different type of work to the one he did last season, so it inevitably takes something away from his sharpness. Trezeguet is a great striker and these players make the difference in the big games.

“Nedved is also a key figure for us and today he was even more calm than usual. It’s no coincidence he was awarded the Ballon d’Or.”

If Juve are secure, then the final few rounds will be a battle royal between Napoli and Genoa for the last remaining automatic promotion place.

“Genoa have a little more quality, but Napoli do better away from home because they defend well and strike on the counter,” explained Deschamps.

“The Rossoblu can also say they have a more favourable calendar with four matches on home turf. It is never easy to take points away from Marassi.”

Although the game ended 3-1 in Turin, Genoa had call for complaint in the opening minutes when Mirco Gasparetto had a goal disallowed for a debatable offside position.

“I saw that the goal was valid, but unfortunately the linesman did not see it. These are tight decisions and can be given or not,” said Coach Giampiero Gasperini.

“It certainly would have changed he course of the match. Other than that, Juve proved they were stronger than us. We had a good opening 20 minutes and threatened a few times, but they scored an easy goal as we let them run 30 metres with the ball undisturbed.”

Cobolli Gigli: Juventus won't sell Buffon to Milan clubs:

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli insists they'll never sell goalkeeper Gigi Buffon to either of the Milan clubs.

"I want to tell our supporters who fear Buffon's move to Inter that this is not only an absurd hypothesis, but it isn't even an hypothesis," Cobolli Gigli told Controcampo.

"Honestly, if this were to happen it would just be too much, we would not be able to look them in the eye.

"This is also more or less true for Milan. During the last Lega meeting I told both Massimo Moratti and Adriano Galliani that Buffon is untouchable.
"They also asked me to inform them if we were to change our mind, but I replied this is not an option.

Juventus Do Not Appreciate Deschamps, Says Agent...
...Jeannot Werth has claimed that the Juventus management do not have faith in his client:

Juventus are at the top of the Serie B stadings, and a promotion to Italy’s elite is at close quarters. However, Didier Deschamps’s future at the Old Lady is still unclear.

Recent rumours indicated that Deschamps would be axed this summer and that Lazio coach Delio Rossi would take over coaching duties.

However, club president Cobolli Gigli made an announcement claiming that such rumours were false and that the Juve management never contacted Rossi.

Not all is rosy, though, with Didier Deschamps clearly aware that his future is very uncertain. His agent went one step further.

"Didier isn’t given enough credit for his work for Juventus and there is a clear lack of appreciation and faith from the management towards him," said Jeannot Werth.

"What his future at Juventus will look like? Which are the projects that the Juve leadership have in mind for next season? These are all questions which I cannot give an answer to," concluded Werth.

    Trezeguet set to leave Juventus

ROME: Unsettled striker David Trezeguet seems set to leave newly-promoted Juventus after revealing his contract negotiations are at a standstill.

The 29-year-old France international, whose contract runs out in 2008, is currently in talks over a new deal but is deeply unsatisfied with what the Turin club – whom he has been with for seven years – are offering him.

“There is no more hope of staying with Juventus – I feel they have little faith in me,” Trezeguet told SKY Italia on Sunday after the Serie B champions lost 3-2 at home to Spezia.

“The offer they have made me tells me everything I need to know.

“I’ve given my best, just as the club asked me this season, but I feel they have made other choices. Now I am going on holiday and I will wait for a call from the board. It’s up to them to decide what to do with me.”

Juve CEO Jean-Claude Blanc wasted no time in hitting back at Trezeguet. “It’s too easy to blame everything on the club,” said the Frenchman. “We made David offers in September, October and November, but he didn’t want to sign.” – AFP

Italy international Vincenzo Iaquinta is close to agreeing a move to Juventus, according to the owner of his current club.

Udinese striker Iaquinta has been linked with a transfer away from the Stadio Friuli for several months and Giampaolo Pozzo believes the 27-year-old is bound for Juve.

"Iaquinta should go to Juve and I believe he has already signed a contract," said Pozzo.

"It's not yet official but I don't think there will be any problems."

Iaquinta joined Udinese in 2000 and was a member of Italy's World Cup-winning squad in Germany last summer.

If he does sign for Juventus, it could be as a replacement for France striker David Trezeguet, who on Monday announced his intention to leave the Stadio Delle Alpi this summer.

Back Where I Belong - Del Piero

"The party at the Stadio Olimpico signalled the end of our time in Serie B, a long and adventurous season," Del Piero began, speaking on his website.

"It saw us face difficulties and ups and downs before reaching Serie A, just as in every fairytale with a happy ending.

"It isn’t easy to take stock of these months, which started with the World Cup win and our relegation, and maybe it’s too early to judge them with objectivity.

"However the only thing that matters is that we did our job, showing seriousness and dedication and proving our true value in the only way that really matters, on the pitch.

"Now I want to enjoy my holidays, but believe me when I say that I cannot wait to be back. Back at home!

"Promotion means a lot to me, aside from my personal satisfaction in winning the top scorer title [he scored 20 Serie B goals].

Juventus' Robert Kovac has agreed a deal with Dinamo Zagreb, according to the Prva Liga club.

The Croatia defender has found himself out of favour with the Turin side, who were recently promoted to Serie A after a year in the second tier of Italian football.

"Next year Robert Kovac will play for Dinamo," club executive Zdravko Mamic told the Jutarnji List newspaper.

"He still has two years left on his contract with the Italians, but has fallen out of favour with the management, so it is a done deal which we will sign next week."

The 33-year-old has suffered with injury and poor form since joining the Bianconeri from Bayern Munich on a free in the summer of 2005.

Meanwhile, Kovac's older brother Niko has announced he would consider leaving Austrian side Salzburg, where his contract expires next year, for Hadjuk Split.

"First I have to talk to my club's executives. If they agree, I'm ready to join Hajduk," the 35-year-old said.
