man where do i begin?
get rid of Riise end of the season, let Arbeola and Arurelio play for a season more then sell both on, along with Hyypia. Bring in wing backs; someone in Maicon's quality, Lehm, D. Alves, Sagna, or Micah Richards.. bring in a new centre back, prefebly an unknown eastern european like Vidic or a mad african in Kolo Toure's mold.
A world class winger in the shape of Quarisma, Robben, Malouda, Reyes (yes i know the latter 3 are impossible, im just saying we need those type of wingers)
sell Benayon, Crouch, and Kuyte, Buy a world class striker who is POWERFUL, physically strong with an ability in the air (something we completely lack up front- Torres aside), someone similar to Santa cruse and Luca Toni or perhaps Barbatov or Anelka.
we should also keep Mascherano and sell Sissoko, the way liverpool play means we dont actually have a play maker (Alonso aside), we depend too heavily on Gerrard's role as an attacking midfielder means we are seriously lacking in the creative department; Man United have Anderson, Arsenal got Cesc, Chelsea now have Ballack- all Play makers, rather than attacking midfielders. Gerrard is trully the engine of the team, but if he's unable to create more chances, or if he generally has a bad day the manager could never replace him without getting ganged upon by the media and fans alike. We depend TOO HEAVILY on Gerrard.
concerns over our pace, compared with the rest in the 'big four' we are alarmingly behind. They have pace THROUGHOUT with the exception of their play makers and centre backs, we got Babel (hardly used by Benitez when he clearly deserves to start ahead of Benayon on the right or even Kewl on the left) Torres and that pretty much is all the pace we have.
highly unlikely, i know; our owners- besides not knowing a damn thing about football or how the football market works- are actually struggling financially and it explains why we saw the public warfare between Rafa and Gillet/Hicks played across the media- they expect some kind of an instant return of their investment but we have invested less than our competitors (Arsenal aside, although they, too, splashed out in the summer)- it is easy to point the blame on Rafa, and i too question his team selection and tactics at times, but he remains the man for liverpool because he has a proven track record. What hinders his progress, i believe, is the fact that he is REPEATEDLY forced to bid for his 3rd or 4th choice simply because we cannot compete financially with the financial big guns like Chelsea and Manchester United or other Giants of world club football in AC, Inter, Barca and Real.
In addition to that he has a long running problem with the media for his rotation policy (which he believes necessary when you have a good, as opposed to world class, squad) Rafa is put under more and more undue pressure, at times unfairly, as was the game he substituted Gerrard for Lucas Leiva against Everton, even though it was due to that substitution we won the game. The media it seems forgot he got us to 2 champions league finals in 3 years, more than what Fergie managed in 25 years at Old Trafford.
Especially now, with the news that our club is in financial crises (im sure you've read something about it somewhere). The owners are thought to have bought the club with loans, and its well documented that the U.S. dollar is taking a battering. with hindsite i cannot help by ask myself; Wouldnt it have been better if the club was sold to the sheikhs? its clear for all to see that our previous board chose their own interests over the club's and thats sad.
And to think Rick Perry was in on it too makes me even more sad.
players out by summer 08:
2 out of the 3; Crouch, Kuyt, Veronin;
Benayon, Arbeola, Finnan, Aurelio, Hyypia, Sissoko, Riise, Pennant.
its not the fact they arent good, they are. But to be honest, all these players should be either out or on the bench for World class players.
