Ok thanks for your correction...I just heard that the club was formed by the English that's why, but thank you for that! While Wikipedia is not exactly a credible source i'll trust what you've said.
However, John Toshack obviously either agrees with me and this English failure or he follows this forum too, or maybe both....
Toshack claims the players, coaches and managers are no longer rated on the continent because of out-dated methods. "But nobody else has qualified and that says something about the game here. "We are not rated on the continent. Managers are not, coaches are not, players are not."
"You must not confuse the Premier League with English football or the English game," said the former Liverpool legend.
"Look at Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool in the Champions League.
"Of the 44 players who started games last time around, only about 10 or so altogether were British, never mind English.
"People abroad, I can assure you, do not have a high opinion of our game. They have of our Premier League because it is full of foreign players."
I'm glad that John Toshack said it, because the English think that people are trying to discredit them or something negative, but the plan and simple truth about the English is that they are just not rated highly. My friends and I often say that, if not for the money and various opportunities for your family etc. in England, footballers should go to Spain, Italy, Germany, France and even Holland if they want to learn and develop their football. John Toshack knows more so he identified the problem precisely, but effectively he said the same things we've known ~ The long ball method of football is obsolete...sure if you're down 1 goals with a couple mins to go, you might be inclined to try your luck, but that's it, luck! It's like using the Chaos theory as tactics where something must fall your way...It is similar to playing rugby, except without hands.
Read the rest of it and see what the real problem is, because he's correct! http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=490406
JOGO BONITA!
