Re: THE3LIONS: OFFICIAL THREAD OF ENGLAND

Ok thanks for your correction...I just heard that the club was formed by the English that's why, but thank you for that!  While Wikipedia is not exactly a credible source i'll trust what you've said.

However, John Toshack obviously either agrees with me and this English failure or he follows this forum too, or maybe both....

Toshack claims the players, coaches and managers are no longer rated on the continent because of out-dated methods. "But nobody else has qualified and that says something about the game here. "We are not rated on the continent. Managers are not, coaches are not, players are not."

"You must not confuse the Premier League with English football or the English game," said the former Liverpool legend.

"Look at Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool in the Champions League.

"Of the 44 players who started games last time around, only about 10 or so altogether were British, never mind English.

"People abroad, I can assure you, do not have a high opinion of our game. They have of our Premier League because it is full of foreign players."

I'm glad that John Toshack said it, because the English think that people are trying to discredit them or something negative, but the plan and simple truth about the English is that they are just not rated highly.  My friends and I often say that, if not for the money and various opportunities for your family etc. in England, footballers should go to Spain, Italy, Germany, France and even Holland if they want to learn and develop their football.  John Toshack knows more so he identified the problem precisely, but effectively he said the same things we've known ~ The long ball method of football is obsolete...sure if you're down 1 goals with a couple mins to go, you might be inclined to try your luck, but that's it, luck!  It's like using the Chaos theory as tactics where something must fall your way...It is similar to playing rugby, except without hands.

Read the rest of it and see what the real problem is, because he's correct!  http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=490406

‘English Mentality Has To Change’, Warns Adams Arsenal legend Tony Adams has been around the block enough times to know that pure bad luck can’t account for England’s 41 years of hurt on the international football stage.

“Two years ago I was hurt at the way they thought of us — they were laughing at us. “The Dutch coaches looked at us as if we just weren’t very good.

“I travelled around and spent two weeks with Fabio Capello. The only response I got was that they didn’t value us that much, and that technically or tactically we weren’t clued up,” said Adams, who is now the understudy of Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth.

“They loved our spirit. Oh yeah, they wanted that,” he added, “And if we get our act together we have got one hell of a country here.

its not that the players and england is not good. its the mentality. english only manager, consistant long balls. its terrible. but they can come back from this. perhaps this is wat the doctor ordered. a clean up of this mess they are in.

Agree..... not only mentality but also skill. English got no talent for coaching for the national team. They need a man like Mourinho or Capello.

capello is also interested in the aus job. so i hope he sorta steers away from the english job. but i sum how doubt it and if england offer him a position he'd take it.

Re: THE3LIONS: OFFICIAL THREAD OF ENGLAND

yup all about the money for some....Juande Ramos had a chance to win the Champions League with Sevilla, but he jumped ship to manage Tottenham...research his pay and i'm sure you'll notice a raise.

Benitez left Valencia after taking them to successful Champions Leagues and went to Liverpool to do the same thing or less cause he can't win the EPL ~ research his pay and i'm sure you'll notice a raise.

Big Sam left Bolton having a chance to make it a champions league team and went to eternally struggling Newcastle since Shearer retired or before ~ research his pay and i'm sure you'll notice a raise.

Schuster, Koeman, Henk Ten Cate, Avram Grant, Mourinho, Klinsman, Spalleti, Ranieri and other such coaches are perfect examples of moving for money and fame.

i mean, not always always about money, but very often it is.

Still, some coaches hope to coach teams that with them they can get titles...

I truly hope England get a descent coach..

i really find it hard for the likes of beck and gerrard not to wualify for Euro 2008. despite their huge talent
