    Re: Football Federation Australia's Socceroos...

These are the coaches that i want (in order of preference)

    1. Guus Hiddink (i know, will never happen).

    2. Loeb

    3. Marcello Lippi

    4. Van Gaal

    5. Houllier

we need 1 of those 5. 3 are unavailable (van gaal, loeb and hiddink.) but lippi and houllier are available. we need a world class coach. none of this s.hit asian cup coaches. no offence to them but the australian players will laugh at them. we need sum1 who can install discipline into these players. a world class coach.

i totally agree with you, socceroos need a coach like guus hiddink that the players look up 2 and are disciplined. if the socceroos appoint an asian cup coach the socceroos will have no respect and the players will start calling the shots unlike a coach like hiddink or lippi. Coaches like houllier, lippi will be very hard to aquire their services but if football ausralia tries and gets one of these coaches it will do wonders for australia. Just like guus hiddink did at the world cup.

    Re: Football Federation Australia's Socceroos...

MARK Bresciano's $10 million move to Manchester City has been put on hold after his Italian club blocked the switch.

Serie A side Palermo have insisted they see all the money from the transfer this month, but City were reportedly hoping to pay up in September instead.

Now Palermo coach Rino Foschi believes the deal will fall through.

"Manchester City really want Bresciano," he admitted. "But the more time passes, the more convinced I am that he will not go."

Just yesterday the Socceroo star had spoken of his excitement at the move to the English Premiership after eight years playing in Italy.

He said the move would freshen up his game and revitalise his enthusiasm for football.

Foschi admitted last night: "He has talked to me about wanting English experience for a long time.

"He's not unhappy at Palermo and has enjoyed his time here but he has this dream, and I wanted him to have it because he deserves it.

"Of course I would have had to find a replacement for him and that would not have been easy - but that is not the reason the move has been blocked."

He added: "City are not respecting the agreement made. The economic conditions they have proposed today are not the same as the ones we agreed.

"Unless they change their mind, I will not give the okay to the transfer. It is not our fault or Mark's fault, but City's fault."

The deal appeared to have been finalised yesterday after Bresciano passed a medical at Sven Goran Eriksson's new club.

Bresh admitted: "It was time for a change.

"If I'm honest I'd lost a bit of my excitement for Serie A and I needed to get that back.

"City are ambitious they have spent big and are going places. I'm genuinely excited to be a part of it."

    Re: Football Federation Australia's Socceroos...

Football Federation Australia today denied a deal had been done with Dutch mastermind *** Advocaat to be the new Socceroos coach.

Sydney’s Daily Telegraph today claimed Advocaat had agreed to take on the Australia job and was set to start Down Under later this year.

But an FFA spokesman said today: “The search for a new national team coach continues.”

Advocaat is currently in charge at Russian club Zenit St Petersburg and is reportedly signed up with them until November.

The former Rangers, Holland and South Korea coach is one of a number of high profile names linked with the Socceroos job.

Other managers on the shortlist are believed to include ex-Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier, Pim Verbeek and Asian Cup-winning coach Jorgan Vieira.

Current Australia coach Graham Arnold has been told his tenure on the job will only be until a new manager has been found, but he now looks likely to be in charge for the upcoming friendlies against Argentina and China.

This morning the FFA said nothing had changed in their pursuit of the best man for the Australia job.

“These names seem to come up every couple of weeks,” said a spokesman. “But there is nothing to announce.

“We are on the record as having said the search continues for a new coach and nothing has changed.”

Advocaat took Holland to the quarter finals of the World Cup in 1994 before leading PSV to domestic success.

He introduced one-touch total football to Scottish side Glasgow Rangers and won the treble with them in his first season. But poor transfers and a revitalised Celtic ended his spell in Scotland.

He returned to take charge of the Holland side once more and got them to the semi-final of Euro 2004, but was criticised for the team’s poor performances and tactics. He quit the job amid a flurry of death threats from angry fans.

Advocaat was briefly UAE coach before taking the helm at South Korea for the 2006 World Cup, but failed to take them out of the group stage, and quit for his current post in Russia.

advocaat is a great coach and all but hope the socceroos can get guus hiddink (back) or someone better.
