Fair credit for Stevie for being alert with the follow-up, but the stats will show a missed penalty.

What is it worth us - We must have the best record bar none for winning matches that go to penalties, yet I swear, in regular play, we must have the worst record over the last 5 years.

Perhaps all clubs are worse now, and goalies are definitely better than 20 years ago, but I remember a time when penalties were autmoatic....

    ...oh for Phil Neal

I had a feeling we would get barca...... difficult, but not impossible. The pressure is on barca (as always) but i think if liverpool can ground out a good result at the Nou Camp (easier said than done i know) they will head back to anfield with confidence. In 2005 they held chelsea and Juventes so whose to say we cant hold Barca...... Good luck to both teams but to be honest i am also shitting myself!

the way we've been improving over the season... i say we've a good chance against barca...
nobody believed we could against Juve... Chelsea.. or Milan... but we did it anyway... so who'd to say we cant do it against Barca?!
im just interested in what Rafa's tactics will be.... cuz he knows barca pretty well... and should come up with a suitable formation and strategy against them.

personally.. i think they're a bit overrated... look at them against Arsenal last year... 1 man down.. and they BARELY got the 2nd goal in just in time...
and we've got a MUCH better defence than arsenals... heck, i'd even go all the way and say we've the best defence in the EPL...  last years stats proved it ... and things dont seem to be changing a lot this year

kewell's future is definatley doubtful he's just injured too often and too easily. When he is on the field though kewell does play very well (as seen through most of last season) and another point to add is that rafa seems to like him... he has played harry in both the fa and champions league finals when both times he wasnt 100% but he better shape up or he will be shown the door.

hmm Ahmad193, again i say - everyone has a chance against Barca...

personally you're disillusioned, how can Barcelona be over-rated with the players they've got - they're rated as a very good team, not unbeatable OF COURSE, but very good and a team that is extremely dangerous for the level of talent available throughout.

If barcelona were to sell all their players now, many clubs would clear out their squads and start at least 6 of our players: Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco,Xavi, Puyol, Thuram, Marquez, Edmilson, Guily, Iniesta & Zambrotta.  A team like that cannot be overrated, they have to under-achieve!  Uefa voted them team of the year, with many players making the Best eleven in Europe.  Remember, these players have performed at a high level now going on 4 seasons.

The game against Arsenal was a final, so while you have a wealth of talent; Only Ronaldinho, Guily and Deco i think ever played in a big Final before, you can get nervous.  Afterall, Arsenal did beat Juventus and Madrid in previous rounds, these are big clubs and teams you know!

Liverpool does not have the best defense in the EPL for sure, you just have a good defense, That is what stats will prove!  3 or 4 games without conceding, doesn't mean you have the best defense, that's why you play an entire season and then award the team that conceded the least goals that trophy.  Besides, even now, Chelsea and Man United have all conceded less goals than Liverpool and scored more goals too. We've lost 4 times this season, Chelsea, Internacional, Real Madrid and Sevilla - all very good teams.  While you will like to compare yourselves to Arsenal & co. they have all beaten you without conceding a goal this season, 1-0,2-0,3-0...and add Bolton & Everton too!  So the stats does show it is far easier to beat Liverpool than it is to beat Barcelona.

So please, give us some credit, oh and EVERYONE knows Barcelona pretty well, so what.

i never doubted barca as a team ... im just saying that they CAN be defeated..

and another thing... if u dont think we have the tightest defence in the EPL .. ask around... ask the mancs and chavs here.. they'll tell u...

read about our record last season..

    then you'll come to understand

Liverpools defence last year was probably the best in england... this year it started off badly but now consistancy is prevailing and players like reina who had a bad start are getting back on track... btw i saw thuram get injured vs athletico any news?

    6 weeks...

BARCELONA defender Lilian Thuram has been ruled out of action for six weeks after tearing a muscle in his left leg.

The Frenchman, 35, sustained the injury in 1-1 Primera Liga draw against Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp yesterday.

The 1998 World Cup winner is expected to be back in action at the beginning of February.
