    Re: Transfer Rumours

Danijel Ljuboja has been offered the chance to resurrect his career at Serie A side Siena after his current club Stuttgart accepted an offer from the Italians.

The Serbian striker failed to settle after being signed by Stuttgart's then-coach Giovanni Trapattoni from Paris St Germain, despite a bright start to his career with the Swabians.

After netting eight goals in his first season while on loan, he was offered a contract until 2009, which he signed.

When he returned to the club for pre-season training, he demanded a pay rise and was subsequently dropped from the first team and ordered to train with the reserves.

He went on loan to Hamburg, but soon fell out of favour there and found himself floundering in their reserves before returning to Stuttgart.

Facing the threat of another season in the reserves at Stuttgart, Ljuboja was put on the transfer list and Siena are ready to take a risk on the 28-year-old.

"We have reached an agreement with Siena for an immediate sale," explained Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt.

"It is now in the player's hands, but he has yet to make his mind up."

    Re: Transfer Rumours

    Smith, Capaca set for Toon

Manchester United striker Alan Smith expects to seal his £6million (AUS$14.25million) move to Newcastle after the two clubs agreed a fee.

The Magpies look to have beaten off the likes of Everton and West Ham to secure the signature of Smith, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Asked by Sky Sports News on Thursday night (Friday morning AEST) when he expected to join the Tyneside club, the 26-year-old said: "Not everything is sorted yet but if everything goes right, maybe tomorrow morning."

Smith joined United in the northern summer of 2004 for £7million (AUS$16.62million) from Leeds, and initially proved a big hit at Old Trafford.

But the apparently imminent signing of Argentinian international striker Carlos Tevez would have pushed his further down the pecking order.

Meanwhile, boss Sam Allardyce was poised for more good news in the transfer market as Brazilian international defender Claudio Capaca underwent a medical at St James' Park.

The former Lyon captain has been on Tyneside since last weekend discussing personal terms and is expected to sign along with Smith.

Allardyce told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle: "He is a top player and we will be delighted if we can pull this off as we regard him as a big capture."

"Our fans should not be put off by the fact they may not have heard of Capaca because he has certainly been heard of in Brazil and France."

"He has been captain of Lyon for the past five years and for every one of those five years they won the French title, so obviously he has a lot of Champions League experience."

"That's why we are hoping that everything goes okay with his medical and that we can agree a deal with his people because we believe he would be a terrific capture for us."

Allardyce will hope the imminent double capture will mark a significant turnaround in his club's pre-season fortunes.

They are resigned to losing midfielder Kieron Dyer to West Ham, while striker Michael Owen is struggling to be fit for the big kick-off.

    Re: Transfer Rumours

yeah alan smith has signed for newcastle and cacapa is on his way. Cacapa i think is a better signing than smith. Dont get me wrong, alan smith is a great player but newcastle already have plenty of world class forwards-martins, ameobi, owen, viduka, luque. With newcastle also already havind a decent mifield, newcastle need to sign more world class defenders. Cacapa is world class and also geremi was a great buy. If newcastle can get One more world class defender they will make the top 6 this season.

    Re: Transfer Rumours

Riquelme is indeed heading to villareal again mainly because boca cannot afford transfering him to their club

motta to milan from barca is a deal almost closed accrording to www.goal.com

and on my hopes a miracle would happen and ronaldinho will come to milan
