Real Madrid is 23rd in the ranking of the best Spanish companies, and it is the most important leasure and sports entity, way above Barcelona, according to an Interbrand report.
Interbrand come up with this ranking every two years with the intention of identifying new emerging companies and to analyse the evolution of big brands. Its goal is to offer a wide view of the management of brands in Spain. Thirty of the biggest and best companies in the country form the ranking, such as important financial names like Santander and BBVA; fashion and distribution companies like El Corte Inglés and Zara; energy suppliers like Repsol, Iberdrola and Endesa; and telecommunications brands like Movistar and Telefónica.
The report says that Real Madrid "is still the richest Club in the world," its brand being worth 299 million euros. The company is 23rd in the overall ranking, but 1st in the group of leisure and sports entities. Barcelona is currently on the 28th spot, its brand being worth 232 millon euros -67 less than Real Madrid's-.
