Mahamadou Diarra has admitted that he is keen to join
Real Madrid and said that it would be a dream come true to join the
Spanish titans:
The Lyon midfielder could sign for Fabio Capello's side later this
week, according to reports in Spain as the two clubs continue to
negotiate a fee.
Manchester United are also thought to be interested in the Mali
international, but the player himself is in little doubt about where he
wants to go.
"Every football player dreams of playing for Real Madrid and I am no different," he told Marca.
"It is a dream to play there.
"Everyone knows that Madrid is one of the three best teams in the
world. I am honoured that they are interested in me. Why would I not
want to go there?
"It is obvious that I want to play for them and I would be delighted if it could happen.
"I would be very proud to join Madrid, a truly great team. God is the only that can decide if go or not."
Lyon want at least €30 million (£20.2 million) for the African, but
Real are not keen on offering more than €25 million (£16.8 million) -
although the likes of Pablo Garcia and Carlos Diogo could move in the
opposite direction to smooth things over.
However, the French champions insist the issue is not money and have
reiterated their stance that the midfielder is not for sale.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Olympique Lyonnais
took note of the information in the Spanish press today relating to
Mahamadou Diarra and confirms that the player is not for sale and that
the club is not making it a question of money."
