Man Utd's Neville blasts Old Trafford boo-boys
    tribalfooball.com - February 08, 2007

Manchester United captain Gary Neville hit out at the Old Trafford crowd last night after England were booed off the pitch at the end of their 1-0 defeat by Spain.

He stormed: "It's easy to boo England. That's expected.

"Fans come along and they are entitled to do what they want but I'm very lucky that I play for a club where they are more accommodating with the players and with performances.

"With England it's always the same - you lose and then you get booed."

'Barca is perfect for Ronaldo,' says Scolari

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari believes Cristiano Ronaldo should leave Manchester United to further his 'education' with Barcelona.

The 22-year-old Ronaldo, whom Scolari knows well from their national team get-togethers, is enjoying his best season for United and scored his 15th goal of the season in yesterday's 4-0 win at Tottenham.

That form has attracted the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid and recent speculation has linked him with a £40million move to Spain.

Scolari feels Barcelona would be an ideal destination for the star winger if he wants to improve even further.

'The basic education stage of his career is ending and I know Cristiano is ready for a change of atmosphere,' Scolari told The Sun.

'Barcelona would hugely enjoy having Cristiano in their team because he would complement Ronaldinho perfectly - they have different characteristics.

'For Cristiano, the Barcelona climate would be important - most days are sunny and it's hardly ever cold like England.

'That gives a player all the motivation he needs to train and play.'

Man Utd boss Ferguson tracking unhappy Robinho
    tribalfooball.com - February 14, 2007

Manchester United are among clubs to be following Robinho's struggles at Real Madrid.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of the Brazil international winger and considered moving for the youngster while he was still with Santos over two years ago.

Robinho has been frozen out at Real this season under coach Fabio Capello and admitted yesterday that he may be forced to leave should the Italian continue next term.

Gazzetta dello Sport says United and AC Milan have already made contact with intermediaries over Robinho's availability and know the wing wizard can be signed for £17 million.

Man Utd No2 Queiroz: Real Madrid can't do anything for Ronaldo
    tribalfooball.com - February 14, 2007

Manchester United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz has dismissed concerns over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Queiroz has a close relationship with Ronaldo and moved yesterday to allay fears that the wing ace was seriously considering a move to Spain in the summer.

"He has no interest in leaving the Red Devils for Real Madrid," insisted Queiroz. "I know that Cristiano would not improve his situation by going to Real Madrid.

"At Manchester United he is part of a family and knows he can eventually become a great legend of this club."

Ferguson: Man Utd need Hargreaves signing
    tribalfooball.com - February 13, 2007

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he wants to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves in preparation for Paul Scholes' retirement.

He said: "You might ask 'do we need Owen Hargreaves then?'

"But Paul Scholes is 32 and we must always keep an eye on the future. At the moment it seems we don't need Hargreaves but the moment you begin to make assumptions is inviting trouble.

"I wasn't too worried when the transfer window came and went without any new arrivals, although I must stress we are never really satisfied at Old Trafford and when the right people become available we won't hesitate to sign them."

Inter Milan president: Tough prising Ronaldo from Man Utd
    tribalfooball.com - February 19, 2007

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has admitted his admiration for Manchester United wing wizard Cristiano Ronaldo.

Corriere dello Sport says Moratti is prepared to offer £35 million for the Portugal international, though the Inter supremo played down his plans to bid for the midfielder this morning.

"Ah, that one is indeed an exceptional player. But he represents Manchester United and that means it would be very difficult for us to sign him. And even then, I'm not sure that we absolutely need him."

Moratti added: "I find it funny that Mancini has asked for him to be signed. But, I repeat, it would be very difficult to take him from Manchester United."

    Larsson snubs Man Utd extension
    Henrik Larsson
Larsson joined Man Utd in the January transfer window
Henrik Larsson will not extend his loan period at Manchester United and is set to leave the club next month.

The 35-year-old Swedish striker, who began his loan spell with the Premiership leaders in January, will return to Helsingborg on 12 March.

"I'm not saying that I'm not flattered or grateful to get the opportunity to extend my stay but there are other things I need to think about," he said.

"The Swedish season starts at the end of March. I need to get back for it

The former Celtic and Barcelona forward also revealed he was not comfortable with having to commute from Sweden.

"I am going back and forward and it's not an ideal situation," he said.

But he added: "This is a great adventure for me.

"I arrived in January and I'm going home in March to play in Sweden. It suits me perfectly."

Larsson has scored two goals in eight games for United, including a strike on his debut against Aston Villa.

He made an impact at Celtic, where he scored 242 goals in over 300 games after joining the Scottish giants in 1997, and found the net twice during the 3-2 defeat by Porto in the 2003 Uefa Cup final.

There was better luck in European competition for the Swede last season when he came on as substitute to help Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Champions League final.

On the international stage, Larsson has scored 36 goals in 93 games for Sweden, finding the target in three World Cups.

    MORATTI DENIES INTEREST IN RONALDO

Massimo Moratti insists Inter Milan won't make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo despite recent speculation.

The Italian giants have been linked with Ronaldo after their manager Roberto Mancini claimed he wanted the Manchester United star on Sunday.

Reports in Italy have now suggested the Nerazzurri could be preparing a £33.7million summer bid for the Portuguese international, who has also been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However Moratti believes prising Ronaldo from Old Trafford, where he is enjoying a sensational season for Sir Alex Ferguson's team, won't be an easy task.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is really a sensational player, but he represents Man Utd and that means it would be very difficult to sign him," Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"And I also don't think for us that he is an absolute requirement.

"I enjoy the fact that Mancini thinks of this, but I repeat, we must leave him to Manchester."

    Ronaldo Wants Real Move

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to join Real Madrid in the summer, according to reports from Spain.

The Portuguese superstar, who has been the cornerstone of Manchester United's Premiership title bid with 16 goals this term, has been linked with both Real and their bitter La Liga rivals Barcelona.

But according to Madrid daily AS he's already made his mind up where he wants to go.

The paper says Ronaldo hopes to quit United in June and has already informed Real through his agent Jorge Mendes that he'd love to join them.

Ronaldo is reportedly flattered by the interest from Barca, as well as Italian giants Inter Milan.

But the lure of the Bernabeu and Los Galacticos appears to be too strong.

Real chief Ramon Calderon knows he'll probably have to spend well over £30million to have any chance of landing Ronaldo.

But with his team labouring to reclaim past glories and many stars from the Florentino Perez era now gone, Ronaldo could be the man to bring back the star quality to the club.

United meanwhile have stated repeatedly that the player is not for sale, and that will probably mean a bitter and protracted battle for his services this summer.

If Ronaldo did quit for Madrid it would be the third time United had lost one of their top names to the Spanish club in recent years.

David Beckham left for Real in the summer of 2003, and Ruud van Nistelrooy did likewise in 2006.

    Saha blow for Manchester United

    16:19 3/6/2007

Manchester United Football Club striker Louis Saha has again been struck by injury.

The French forward has been riddled with injuries ever since moving from Fulham in January 2004, although he has enjoyed a fair amount of action in the first team this season.

However, he has again been struck down with injury after colliding with Patrice Evra in training, and the striker has now been ruled out of the UEFA Champions League clash with Lille on Wednesday evening.

United star’s injury worse than thought

    17:11 3/6/2007

Manchester United Football Club midfielder Darren Fletcher has been ruled out for two months.

The Scottish international picked up an ankle injury which was expected to keep him out of action for no longer than a fortnight, yet Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed the damage is more serious.

"Darren went for a scan earlier this week," Ferguson told the club's website. "The news wasn't good.

“He'll be out for two months. It's a blow for the lad. It is a crucial time in the season for him and us."

Fletcher being out doesn't bother me because I have never rated him that high anyway so there's no real loss there.  Saha is expected to be back in a week or two so no problems there.  Evra took a knock so Heinze will slot in for him so we're doing just fine but thanks for all the news that I read days ago.

I'd waited long enough. I fucking hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that, you ***. And don't ever stand over me again sneering about fake injuries.”

    FERGIE CURSING DESPITE LATEST WIN

Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated a fifth successive Manchester United win and a place in the Champions League quarter-finals - and claimed it had been a "bad week" for the Red Devils.

While Ferguson is not complaining at a 1-0 win over Lille which confirmed United's place in the last eight for the first time in four years, the Scot is getting concerned about a mounting injury list.

After losing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Darren Fletcher in the past week already, Ferguson confirmed Louis Saha would miss up to a month with a hamstring injury suffered in training on Tuesday.

And, if that was not bad enough, defender Mikael Silvestre now faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder late in last night's game.

"Apart from the results, it has been a bad week," said Ferguson.

"It is not looking good for Mikael at all.

"At first, we thought he had broken his arm but now it seems it is a dislocation.

"It is another big blow for us because, in the space of a week, we have lost five players.

"Louis will be missing for four weeks although, with hamstrings, you can never be sure exactly how long they will be out. Ole will not be available until March 31, Darren Fletcher is out for two months and now Henrik Larsson is leaving us."

Larsson provided United with the perfect farewell gift last night by nodding home Cristiano Ronaldo's superb cross 19 minutes from time.
