Thierry Henry Set to Win Ballon d'Or (Golden Ball) Despite reports from Italy that Gianluigi Buffon has won the award, Goal.com reports that Arsenal striker Thierry Henry will win the award. (Click for more...)

Scuttlebutt is the Frenchman has garnered about a 2/3 vote lead.

The Fourth Official can live with this if Henry wins it, although the Fourth Official also could live if Cannavaro or Buffon won it.

I wonder if the Italy teammates caused some split votes, thus opening the door for Henry to get most of the votes? Who knows...

The official winner will be announced November 27.

This is going to come out as if I don't want Henry to win, but does he really deserve this award. He was good but was great?

He HAS been great, but I don't think he was the greatest from the previous season (including through the World Cup).

The Italian duo was impressive. Samuel Eto'o also gets overlooked too often.

Henry probably should have won the award in another year. I just wonder if any players associated with Calciopoli teams will be blackballed.
